Feeding deer, 1889

A Moilick 1898, feeding deer, lithography.A beautiful colored engraving. This plate was an art addition to the German magazine “Zum Guten Stunde” around 1898. On the right is printed “Deutches Verlaghaus Bong & Co, West Berlin”. Plate number 21, Moilick, Futterplatz fur hochwild. August Becker

 August Becker (1878-1942)
The hen with the golden eggs

August Becker 1878-1942 Hen with the golden eggs 1915.

A very rare and unique Art Deco woodcut from the hand of German woodcut artist August Becker. The work is printed on Japanese Mulberry paper, signed by Becker in the lower right corner, “Aug Becker”. Gold leaf was used by the artist to fill in the eggs. Some gold leaf residue was left near the artist’s autograph. The paper size is 23.5 x 18 cm, the print size is 8 x 13.5 cm.

There is some yellowing but the overall condition is good. The frame and original card board backing are available if desired, the frame however is damaged. Please see the additional pictures. On the original backing board was written nr. 2 of 70, (presumably by Becker). This artwork is dated around 1915 (judging by all other works Becker made which involved the use of gold leaf). The theme of this woodcut could be based upon the Fables of Aesop. 1904-1914. The artwork is shipped unmounted between two archival acid free boards for you to frame or store as you see fit. (The original but damaged frame is available if wanted).
