Artists: Ed Jeska

Jan Staats Kiewiet alias Ed Jeska,

Ed Jeska was born on May 30, 1899 in  Arnhem, The Netherlands and died in 1977.  (Initials JSK which sounded like Jeska in the Dutch language, therefore he signed his works at an early point in his career as: ” Jeska”.

Also the signing names Ed Jeska and Jesko are found. He was a painter and drawing artist and an etcher as well.

Later he became the director of the “Academie van Beeldende Kunsten”  in The Hague. Jeska was an autodidact. He made pastels, etches and a lot of oil paintings as well.  Well known are his great woodblock prints. In his artwork he mainly focused on landscapes.
